Floral Installations: Which type of flower is the best for each event?

There are many types of flowers to choose from in the moment you are planning an event. Flowers are always present, they give color, joy, or in your event. However, not all flowers are appropriate for every type of floral installation. The flower centerpieces on the tables or the decorations in the stage have to have a coherence and a sense with the theme or concept of the event. We agree that flowers will not be the same for an red carpet event as for a dentists' conference! So here's what we can recommend you when choosing what flower is going to represent you at your celebration.

Flowers for each type of event

Floral installations for formal or black tie events

In this category we include corporate events, congresses and conferences. The most important thing in these events is the interaction between the attendees or the attention to the speakers, so you should avoid flowers with bright colors. Floral installations should be small (or big) discreet flower arrangements with soft and serene tones such as blues or whites are the most appropriate. Examples of flowers with these characteristics would be Irises, gladiolas, violets, tulips and orchids. We love them!

Flowers for fashion shows

For celebrations where the design is the eye-catcher, we need to make sure that the floral installations or the flower arrangements are in keeping with the style of the fashion show. Therefore, we will use soft tones for spring collections such as pink, white, green and red. If the collection is for fall, we will opt for darker colors, between browns and greens and dark reds. The flowers that best suit the fashion shows are roses, hydrangeas or jasmine.

Red carpets floral installations 

We love red carpet events. Even if it's for a corporate event, a premiere, or a product launching. On some occasions we will have personalities or celebrities that need a dedicated space for the press, another one for the photocall with the sponsors of the event and we will decorate with elegant and formal arrangements, such as lilies or white roses.

Flowers for stands

In this type of event, creating networking moments is fundamental. This is where workshops come in, where stands or meeting tables are designed to establish professional relationships among the attendees. In these events we will design floral arrangements or floral installations that are extra elegant, serene and do not attract too much attention, such as gladiolas or tulips.

Decoration in restaurants

When we have to offer lunches and dinners, we must decorate the space according to the theme of our event, also considering the style of the location. In a classic and elegant style restaurant, flowers with blue and white colors are the most appropriate, hydrangeas, dahlias, orchids or white roses are good options.

However, if the restaurant has a more modern style we can play with yellow and red flower colors, such as red roses, tulips, lilies or gladiolas. In the case of a rustic or country place, browns will match perfectly, bearded irises, columbine or oriental poppies.
