How much does a floral installation cost?

Updated · 7 min read · Flower Fairy studio, Miami

Short answer

A single floral installation — an arch, entry moment, bar, or photo wall — starts at $2,500. A layered room with two to four connected features starts at $7,500. A full built environment with custom structure, rigging, and crew starts at $18,000. Roughly 35–45% of any quote is labor and structure, not flowers.

Almost every quote request we get opens with the same sentence: we have no idea what this should cost. Fair — most floral studios publish nothing, and the ones that do publish a starting price that quietly excludes labor, structure, delivery, and strike.

Here is how our pricing actually works, what moves the number up, and what a realistic budget looks like at each scale.

The three price tiers, and what each one buys

Every number above includes design, materials, hardware, delivery, installation, strike, and removal. We do not quote a floral figure and then add a production invoice after the fact.

Where the money actually goes

The most common budgeting mistake is assuming a floral installation is priced like a bouquet — flower count times stem cost. It is not. On a $10,000 install, a typical split looks like this:

LineShare of budgetNotes
Fresh floral and greenery35–45%Varies most with season and stem choice
Structure, hardware, rigging15–25%Higher for ceilings and anything freestanding
Design and pre-production10–15%Concept, renders, sourcing, prep in the workshop
Install and strike labor20–30%Crew size × hours, doubled for overnight installs
Delivery and logistics5–10%Truck, venue access fees, COI paperwork

Five things that move your quote

  • Height and rigging. Anything above 10 feet needs lifts, ladders, or truss, and a second crew member for safety. A ceiling installation typically costs 1.6–2× the same square footage on a wall.
  • Install window. A 2am–6am load-in at a hotel ballroom prices higher than a 10am install in an empty warehouse. Overnight labor runs about 1.5× standard.
  • Hold time. A piece that must look perfect for four days of a trade show needs hydration mechanics, a refresh visit, or a fresh-and-faux hybrid. Budget 10–20% above a single-night version.
  • Stem specificity. Asking for one exact variety in one exact color locks us out of substitution and raises cost. A palette brief instead of a stem list usually saves 10–15%.
  • Season. Peak imports around Valentine's Day and Mother's Day raise wholesale pricing on roses and peonies by 30–60% for a two-week window on either side.

What $2,500, $7,500, and $18,000 look like in a real room

At $2,500 you get one thing done properly: a 8ft photo wall, a bar face, or a ceremony arch, delivered and installed with real structure behind it. This is the right budget for a press moment, a product launch corner, or a private dinner.

At $7,500 the room starts to read as designed rather than decorated. Typically that is an entry moment, a focal installation, and a coordinated table or bar treatment, all sharing one palette and one mechanical language.

At $18,000 and up we are fabricating. Custom frames, integrated lighting, brand color-matched blooms, and a crew on site through the build. This is the tier for brand activations, gala environments, and anything that has to photograph as a set.

How to get an accurate number fast

Send a photo of the actual space, the dimensions of the wall or ceiling you want covered, your date, and a budget range. With those four things we return a concept render and a fixed quote — usually inside 24 hours. Without them, any number you receive from any studio is a guess.

Frequently asked

Is there a minimum for a floral installation?
Yes. Our installation minimum is $2,500, which covers design, materials, structure, install, and strike for one focal piece. Below that number we cannot cover crew time and still build something that holds up.
Does the price include setup and takedown?
Always. Delivery, install, strike, and removal are inside the quoted figure. Venue-imposed fees such as union labor, COI processing, or freight elevator charges are passed through at cost and listed separately.
Can you work backwards from a fixed budget?
That is our preferred way to work. Give us the number and the room, and we will design the largest-impact version that fits it rather than quoting a design you then have to cut.
