We Belong Here festival
Outdoor, multi-day, ballasted and heat-tested — the closest thing in our archive to a Zilker or ACL build.

Austin buys floral the way it buys production: late, ambitious, and for something that will be filmed. The briefs that reach us here are activation briefs — a brand house on Rainey Street for a week in March, an artist lounge behind a festival stage, a product launch in a warehouse east of I-35 where the floral has to carry the whole room because there is nothing else in it.
That changes the engineering before it changes the design. Austin work is usually temporary, outdoors or semi-outdoors, up in a night and down in a night, with a build that has to survive a crowd leaning on it and a photographer shooting it from six inches away. We design for both distances at once.
We are a Miami studio and we say so on this page, because it decides how the job runs. Frames are welded and dry-fitted in our Kendall workshop, freighted to Central Texas ahead of the crew, and dressed on site with fresh product bought through Texas wholesalers the day before doors. There is no Austin storefront behind this page and we will not pretend otherwise.
We have not built in Austin yet, and this page will say so until we have. Publishing invented Austin projects to win a search ranking would be the fastest way to lose a client's trust in the first meeting, so instead here is exactly how the first Austin job would run.
Design and engineering happen in Miami: drawings, ballast and rigging weights, a materials specification stating what is fresh, preserved or faux, and a dry-fit of the structure in our Kendall workshop before anything is freighted. You approve the render and the load-in plan together, not separately.
Freight leaves for Central Texas ahead of the crew, timed against your venue's dock window rather than ours. The crew flies in, buys fresh product through Texas wholesalers the day before install, dresses on site, and books strike at the same time as install so nobody is negotiating an out-time at midnight.
The closest real analogues to Austin work are in our Miami archive: festival production floral, a telecom brand activation built to camera, and Formula 1 hospitality for the client whose Austin race weekend is on the same calendar. Those studies are linked below with dates, venues and scope, and they are the fair way to judge whether we can do your Austin build.

Read the study →Each room sets its own rules — ceiling height, rigging points, load-in window, sightlines. These are the Austin-area venues we design against most often, and what floral actually has to do inside them.
Convention center
General-session and sponsor-floor builds on tight overnight windows; the room is grey and vast, so floral works best as a few large gestures rather than distributed decor.
Motorsport circuit
Paddock club and hospitality suites where everything must be wind-rated, fast to strike, and legible on broadcast.
Arena
Suite and premium-club activations around a busy touring calendar, with load-in measured in hours between events.
Live music venue
Stage-adjacent floral built to survive lighting heat and to frame a camera position rather than a room.
Outdoor park
Festival ground rules: ballast only, no ground penetration, foam-free mechanics, and varieties chosen for full afternoon sun.
Bungalow bars and brand houses
Small footprints taken over for a week. Porch, fence-line and interior installs that must go up without damaging a hundred-year-old house.
Hotel
A street-facing property where the lobby and terrace read as one photograph; installations are planned for the sidewalk sightline first.
Boutique hotel
Small, textural, garden-adjacent work — a single considered gesture beats volume in these rooms.
Estate venue
Walled gardens and period interiors; the built floral has to look older than it is, which means dried, garden-grown material and no rental gloss.
Hotel, lakefront
Lakeside terraces where humidity and wind off Lady Bird Lake decide the mechanics before the palette does.
East Austin event warehouse
An empty industrial box — the room is whatever you build, so floral usually carries ceiling, entry and bar in one language.
Historic and organic-certified venue
Sustainability-literate clients: foam-free, compostable mechanics and locally grown material where the season allows.
When to commit, by season. These windows are what a buildable date looks like once fabrication, freight and crew travel are all in the schedule.
Brand houses, lounges, panels and after-parties packed into ten days, mostly in temporary spaces that are handed over days before doors.
Booking window: Reserve by November. January is the practical cutoff for anything we fabricate; after that it is rentals and fresh.
Two weekends in Zilker Park. Sponsor activations, artist areas and VIP decks, all ballasted and all rebuilt between weekends.
Booking window: Commit by June so structures can be built, tested and freighted before the site locks.
Paddock hospitality, sponsor suites and off-circuit brand dinners across a single very expensive weekend.
Booking window: Twelve weeks minimum; circuit credentials and delivery windows close early.
Theatre lobbies, private dinners and step-and-repeat moments built to photograph under press lighting.
Booking window: Six to eight weeks.
Product launches, campus openings and customer summits from the tech employers along the northwest corridor.
Booking window: Four to six weeks; recurring quarterly programs are planned a year out.
Ranch and estate ceremonies where the ceremony structure has to travel down a caliche road and stand in wind.
Booking window: Four to six months for a peak Saturday.
A typical Austin build runs a crew of three to six flying into AUS, on site one to three days. During SXSW and ACL we add a day on either end purely for traffic and dock access — downtown load-in during those weeks is a scheduling problem before it is a design one, and we would rather quote the extra day than miss a window.
Four to six weeks for a custom Austin build in a normal month. For March and October the honest lead time is three to five months, because the city's own production capacity is the constraint, not ours. Under two weeks we will quote a fresh-and-rental solution and say plainly that it is not an engineered install.
Structures are welded, wrapped and dry-fitted in Kendall, then freighted to Central Texas ahead of the crew. Fresh product is bought through Texas wholesalers the day before install. For festival sites we build in modules that two people can carry across grass, because vehicle access usually stops at the fence line.
Zilker and other city park sites prohibit ground penetration, so every outdoor structure is ballasted and weight-calculated in advance. Circuit and arena work needs rigging plans and certificates of insurance naming the venue. Rainey Street houses and historic properties often carry preservation restrictions — nothing screwed, nailed or adhered to original fabric.
Austin runs hot and dry in a way Miami does not: 100°F afternoons with low humidity strip fresh product fast, so mechanics are hydration-first, foam-free, and dressing is scheduled for the last hour before doors. Spring brings genuine storm and wind risk on open ground, which is why outdoor pieces are wind-rated rather than merely heavy. Late-January cold snaps can take out local field product, so winter jobs lean on structure, preserved material and fresh as accent.
No. Our studio and our only address are in Miami. We fabricate there and travel to Austin for installations, which makes our Austin work project-based rather than daily delivery or retail.
For a fabricated environment, November is the sensible booking point and January is the last honest one. Inside four weeks of March we can still deliver a strong fresh-and-rental install, but we will tell you it is that rather than sell it as a custom build.
Yes, with ballasted structures. City park rules prohibit driving stakes or penetrating the ground, so we calculate weights, build in carry-across modules and submit the ballast plan with the site paperwork.
With the right varieties and foam-free hydration, yes for a single day. For a multi-day festival run we specify premium faux or preserved material in the sun-exposed and touchable positions and refresh fresh accents each morning before gates.
Yes, on the same trip and with no second travel charge. River Walk hotels, the Pearl and the convention center are all served by the Austin crew; we will say so in the quote rather than hiding it in a line item.
Crew flights, freight and lodging are quoted as their own line, typically a few thousand dollars on a mid-size build, and the percentage falls as the installation grows. You see the number rather than a hidden uplift on the floral.
