We Belong Here festival
A modular festival environment assembled inside a short overnight access window — the constraint a first-year festival city imposes.

Boulder is on our map for one reason: from January 21 to 31, 2027, the Sundance Film Festival holds its first edition here after more than four decades in Park City. Its official venues run from the Boulder Theater downtown and the Dairy Arts Center to Chautauqua Auditorium and the auditoriums of the CU Boulder campus, and the brand houses, lounges and hosted dinners that grew up around the festival in Utah will need rooms in a city that has never hosted them.
That first year is both the opening and the risk. No brand, agency or venue has a Boulder Sundance playbook yet, so the builds that land will be the ones planned around real handover times, winter freight and a downtown that was never laid out for festival load-ins.
We are a Miami studio, and this page says so because it decides how the job runs. Frames are designed, welded and dry-fitted in our Kendall workshop, trucked to Colorado with weather margin, and dressed on site with fresh product bought from Denver-area wholesalers close to the date. There is no Boulder address behind this page.
We have not built in Boulder yet, and this page will keep saying so until we have. Neither has anyone else at Sundance scale: January 2027 is the festival's first year here, so a plan you can check matters more than local photographs nobody could have yet.
A Boulder commission runs like our other fly markets. Drawings, rigging and ballast weights and a fresh, preserved and faux specification come first; the structure is dry-fitted in Kendall before it ships; freight leaves with weather margin; and the crew arrives the day before the build.
For Sundance we plan around the three things nobody controls in a first-year festival city — the venue's handover time, downtown delivery rules and crew lodging — and we book strike together with install, so the out-time is agreed before anyone is standing in the snow at 2 a.m.

Art Deco theater · Sundance 2027 venue
A historic downtown house a block off the Pearl Street Mall; lobby moments are freestanding, sized to the doors and built for constant audience turnover.
Arts center · Sundance 2027 venue
Two festival theaters, the Boedecker and the Gordon Gamm, plus gallery space under one roof, so corridors and load-in times are shared with other programming.
Historic auditorium · Sundance 2027 venue
An 1898 timber hall at the foot of the Flatirons: nothing fixed to historic fabric, freestanding pieces only, and cold evenings on the walk in.
CU Boulder concert hall · Sundance 2027 venue
University rules apply: vendor paperwork, certificates of insurance and fire-code review before anything stands in the lobby.
Community venue · Sundance 2027 screenings and talks
A smaller downtown room where one strong piece behind the speakers does more than decor spread thin across the space.
Library theater · Sundance 2027 talks
A public building: fire-rated materials, freestanding structure and quiet install hours around library use.
Historic campus building · Sundance 2027 programming
The university's first building; restraint and texture suit it better than volume, with campus event approval secured in advance.
Cinema · Sundance 2027 venue
A modern multiplex where any brand moment lives in the lobby or outside the doors, under shopping-center management rules.
Downtown retail and dining
The likely home of brand houses: narrow historic frontages, no loading docks and early-morning delivery windows, with anything placed on the mall itself subject to city approval.
Historic hotel
A 1909 lobby under a stained-glass ceiling that already carries the room; floral belongs at its edges and on the stair, not over it.
Luxury hotel
Ballroom and terrace dinners facing the Flatirons, where one hero piece and a strong table language suit a hosted brand dinner.
When to commit, by season. These windows are what a buildable date looks like once fabrication, freight and crew travel are all in the schedule.
The first Boulder edition: premieres, talks and hosted events across downtown and the CU campus, with brand houses, lounges and dinners in the rooms around them.
Booking window: Best by the end of October for anything we fabricate; mid-November is the last practical start. After that it is fresh product and inventory pieces, and the quote will say exactly that.
Boulder is the festival's long-term home, so a 2027 armature can come back re-dressed rather than rebuilt.
Booking window: Reserve the following January at strike, while the venue plan is still fresh.
Hotel dining rooms, office parties and private homes on short, dark days with cold load-ins.
Booking window: Six to eight weeks.
University ceremonies and receptions with fixed dates and institutional approvals.
Booking window: Eight to ten weeks, with campus vendor approval first.
Outdoor ceremonies in strong high-altitude sun, with afternoon thunderstorms that decide when the ceremony piece goes up.
Booking window: Four to six months for a peak Saturday.
University, tech and outdoor-industry gatherings in hotel ballrooms and campus venues.
Booking window: Six weeks for a single installation; longer when rigging needs approval.
The crew flies into Denver International, about forty-five minutes from downtown Boulder, and stays in town for the build. For Sundance, crew lodging is the binding constraint in a first-year festival city, so rooms are booked the day a job is confirmed and appear on the quote as their own line.
Six to eight weeks for a custom Boulder build in a normal month. For Sundance 2027 the end of October is the comfortable point to commit fabricated work and mid-November the last practical start; after that we quote fresh product and inventory pieces only, and say so plainly.
Frames, armatures and preserved elements are fabricated in Kendall and trucked west with spare days for winter weather on the plains. Fresh product comes from Denver-area wholesalers close to the date and stays above freezing from their cooler to the venue floor.
Anything on the Pearl Street Mall itself, on sidewalks or in city parks needs City of Boulder approval. CU Boulder venues expect vendor paperwork and certificates of insurance before load-in. Historic interiors such as Chautauqua Auditorium, the Boulder Theater, Hotel Boulderado and Old Main mean freestanding structures and no fixings.
Boulder sits about a mile up, and its winter air is very dry: fresh flowers lose water fast in heated rooms and can be damaged by frost in the minute between a van and a door. Late-January days swing between sunny and mild and snowy and bitter, and strong winter winds come down off the foothills, so nothing goes outside without ballast. We hydrate longer, choose varieties that hold in dry heat, wrap product for every transfer and quote a refresh for anything that runs longer than a day.
No — Miami is our only studio and our only address. We design and fabricate there and travel to Boulder for commissioned installations, so our work here is project-based rather than delivery or retail.
January 21 to 31, 2027, in Boulder, Colorado. Official venues announced by the festival include the Boulder Theater, the Dairy Arts Center's Boedecker and Gordon Gamm theaters, Chautauqua Auditorium, eTown Hall, Cinemark Century Boulder and several CU Boulder halls, with talks at the Canyon Theater and Old Main.
The end of October is the comfortable point for anything we fabricate, and mid-November is the last practical start, because freight and crew lodging have to be locked early in a first-year festival city. After that we can still install a strong piece from fresh product and inventory, and we will label it as exactly that rather than sell it as a custom build.
Indoors, yes, with longer hydration and varieties that hold in dry heat. The real danger is the short walk from van to door, so product travels wrapped and warm. Outdoors in January we specify preserved or premium faux material and keep fresh flowers for the moments guests touch and photograph up close.
Not in Boulder — no one has, because 2027 is the first edition here — and we have not published festival work from Park City either. The fair way to judge us is the real work linked on this page: festival builds, a telecom launch built to camera and Formula 1 hospitality.
Yes, and it is usually the efficient choice. Because Boulder is the festival's long-term home, a fabricated armature can be kept and re-dressed for the following January instead of being designed from scratch.
Flights, freight, vehicle hire and crew lodging appear as their own lines on the quote. Festival-week lodging is priced when the job is confirmed rather than estimated, and winter freight is scheduled with spare days for weather.
