When Art Basel 2027 happens
Art Basel lists its Miami Beach fair for early December each year and announces the exact dates itself. At the time of writing, the official fair calendar shows the 2026 Miami Beach edition (December 4–6) but no 2027 dates yet. Plan around the first week of December and confirm once Art Basel publishes the calendar.
Design Miami runs alongside Art Basel during Miami Art Week. Its 2026 Miami edition is December 1–6; its 2027 dates have not been announced. Brands often attach activations to the wider week rather than the fair floor, so the dates that matter to your build are your own event dates, your venue's load-in window and your strike time.
Booking windows: our planning advice
These windows are Flower Fairy's planning advice, not rules set by the fair. The deciding factor is not our workshop; it is how early venues, rigging approvals and install crews fill up for the week.
- Fabricated builds: brief us by August 2027. Our published lead time for a full brand activation with fabrication is eight to twelve weeks, and Art Basel week itself needs three to four months.
- Custom pieces: allow our published lead time. A custom-built wall or ceiling needs six to eight weeks in a normal week; during Art Basel week, plan on three to four months.
- Flower-wall rentals and existing inventory: these can move later, because the structure already exists. A standard rental wall is comfortable at two weeks in a normal week. But venues and install crews book early for Art Week, so a late rental still depends on an open install slot.
Where activations happen
Miami Beach is the centre of gravity: the fair itself and the hotels and beachfront venues around it. Activations here compete for the same load-in slots, freight elevators and street access as everyone else in the week, so the install window is usually the tightest constraint in the brief.
The Design District is where fashion, design and luxury brands take over storefronts and courtyards. The work is often a facade, an entrance or a courtyard moment designed for passing foot traffic and photography.
Wynwood is warehouse and street-level space, often with open walls and outdoor areas. Our T-Mobile 5G launch in Wynwood is the nearest published example of the kind of floral build these spaces invite: one camera-ready moment at the entry, where guests decide whether to come in.
Load-in and permit realities
During Art Week, every activation is trying to load in at the same time. Ask your venue early for its load-in and strike windows, dock or street access, elevator bookings and any vendor documents it requires. We supply technical drawings, weights and measurements, and the insurance certificates the venue asks for, and we work to venue rigging rules.
Anything on a street, sidewalk or public space needs the approvals your production or venue arranges; confirm who holds them before design is locked, because a permit condition can change the footprint of a floral build. Because we fabricate in Kendall first, the time on site is spent installing, not building, which helps when the window is short.
Fresh versus faux in December heat and humidity
December is Miami's mild season, but indoor-outdoor venues, glass storefronts and long show hours still stress fresh flowers. The more hours a piece must hold, the stronger the case for faux or preserved elements where guests do not touch or smell them, with fresh stems placed where people get close.
For multi-day activations the choice is also about budget: faux structures can hold for the whole week without a nightly refresh. Our fresh vs faux guide compares hold time, realism, cost and reuse side by side.
Budgets using our published bands
Our prices are all-in, covering design, materials, structure, installation, strike and removal. A focal installation starts at $2,500, a layered room at $7,500 and a fully fabricated environment at $18,000. Flower-wall rentals start at $2,500 and custom walls at $7,500. Artificial trees cost $1,600–$3,000 from the collection, or $550–$1,050 as a Miami-Dade event rental.
For Art Week, the useful question is which band the brief belongs in. One Instagram moment at a Design District entrance is a focal piece. A takeover of a Wynwood space with several connected features is a layered room. A custom-built world with structure, rigging and a crew through the week is a fabricated environment.
What to send us
A photo sent to our AI Studio comes back as a concept render and proposal, usually within a day, which is useful when a client needs to see the idea before approving the budget.

- The load-in and strike windows the venue has given you
- Photos of the space and the dimensions you have
